Here’s the latest instalment in our news updates from Blackford Platform Partners.
First of all, thank you to all the partners that joined us online at SIIM 2020 virtual meeting for our
Industry Connect session focused on managing the post-COVID imaging volume surge through AI. Speakers included VIDA’s Susan Wood, icometrix’s Dirk Smeets, Subtle Medical’s Ajit Shankaranarayanan, and CorTech’s Chris Airriess. Great work all! Neurodegenerative disease assessment specialist
CorTechs Labs published case studies on the
evaluation of temporal lobe epilepsy and
assessing possible COVID-19 neurological manifestations. The company also announced business engagements with other Blackford partners, including a
merger with HealthLytix and a
distribution agreement with Subtle Medical. And, at SIIM 2020, CorTechs
presented a paper on subject classification for autism spectrum disorder using machine learning and radiomics. Michael Berger from musculoskeletal AI solutions developer
Image Biopsy Lab posted an
interesting blog focused on the art of scaling as an AI startup in the MedTech sector. Medical diagnostic provider
MaxQ AI shared some short excerpts from a video interview with Dr Ajay Choudhri, addressing issues such as what he says to
doctors who think they’re going to be replaced by AI, how he
handles false positives, and
why hospitals need to start deploying AI. The company also posted a couple of videos about AI, looking at
how it can address challenges, and also how it has now
become a requirement rather than an idea. Medical 3D printing specialist
Axial3D was announced as one the top ten hottest HealthTech startups at The Europas awards, and also
announced an exciting partnership with Fast Radius to improve its service offering for surgeons and hospitals across North America. And finally, not only was lung analysis firm
VIDA named as one of the
15 companies saving the world from COVID-19 by Forbes magazine, the company was also awarded the first ever Biosciences Platform Med-Tech Award by the University of Iowa.
